Constitutions

The Constitution is a law agreed by the peoples representatives that sets out how the state will be constituted and run, our rights and responsibilities as citizens and the creation of particular institutions to support and safeguard good governance and rule of law.

Currently there are two major documenst that are used as references as per the laws governning the country. All other laws have to conform to them.

These documents are the interim constitutions.

The Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly First Session for the year 2009 is opened
Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly chaired by Hon. Daniel Deng Monydit today listened to motion of Education Committee on the Status of Education in Southern Sudan presented by the committes chairperson Hon. nartisio Loluke manir

The committee. appreciated effort of the Ministry of Education (GoSS) for inherenting go to school intiative with an increase of enrolment from 300,000 to (1.5)million across Southern Sudan, encouragement alternative Education systems and Teachers Headcount weed out Ghost names from the pay sheets.

The committee of Education in Assembly expreed disatisfaction over the work of management of Education rehabilitation under multi donors Trust Funds (MTDF) for its eratic and insignificant achievements.

The committee said out of (100) schools proposed to be rehabilitated all over Southern Sudan and further reduced to (77) only (34) schools are under construction for three (3) years.

The Education committee larmented the alleged misused of fund in the Ministry by the contractors awarded contracts for the construction of Schools in Southern Sudan besides misused of funds earmarks for scholarships.

On poor performances and productivity, the committee attributed that to lack of supervision at all levels, lack of visionary and results oriented leadership and untrained teachers especially in rural shools.

The August House after short debate on the motion resolved to summon the Education minister (GoSS) within two weeks to give statement on Education status in Southern Sudan.

One week computer training for some of the staff of the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly

Speaker SpeakerThe Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly (SSLA) has been busy all week long with training and discussion of the budget bill for the FY 2009.

The AWEPA in conjunction with the department of Information, Communications Technologies are closing a computer training course for some Hon. MPs and Staff. The graduation ceremony is supposed to take place today Friday 23rd January 2009 but unfortunately it has been postponed to a later date which will be communicated later.
